Ms. Jones, a former teacher in the Vallivue School District, has come back to make an impact on her students. She teaches English 10 and 11 and finds ways to understand her students and help them get the knowledge they’ll need in the near future.
Jones grew up in Nampa and graduated from Bishop Kelly High School. After that, she attended San Diego State where she competed on the rowing team. After that, she moved to Seattle for a year and soon returned to Idaho to live in Boise to obtain her Master’s degree from Boise State. She started her teaching career in 2015.
She started her teaching career at Vallivue’s alternative middle school, Rivervue Academy. Jones loved her experience at Rivervue, and after it closed she tried other schools and districts. However, she stated that no other school district was as good as Vallivue. Last year, she applied for an opening in the English department so she could return to our district.
So far, she is happy and loves the students and staff. She believes the start of this year of teaching is better than what she expected. Jones’s favorite part about teaching at VHS so far is that the students in her class care a lot about their education and seem genuinely happy to be there.
In her free time, Jones plays volleyball and is in a book club. She hangs out with her lovely ginger cat named Carlos.
A goal she wants to accomplish this school year is to have 100% of her students earn their credits for their classes and for her students to feel prepared for whatever the future has in store for them.
Jones’s message to Vallivue High: “Keep being the realist.”
