The Haunted World in Nampa is where horror meets the heart, a spooky tradition with two houses to explore and many photo props to enjoy. The cornfield on the corner of Northside Blvd and Highway 20/26 includes two houses: the Raven House and Scullvaina.
The Raven House is the larger one of the two buildings. It takes around 45 minutes to complete. It is one of the favorites among returners, and this year they added new rooms.
Next is Scullvaina; this is the smaller and not for the claustrophobic type. The whole 25 minutes you are inside with the terrifying actors. You will meet iconic characters such as the nun and a mad scientist.
Senior Genevera McAbee has been working at Haunted World for two years now. Some of her most memorable acts are the nun, a clown, and a dead bride left at the altar. She started working at Haunted World because it is “easy, pays in cash, and is sports friendly” due to the hours. Her most insane story? “The lights went out when I was playing the nun and one of the customers got spooked and bumped into me and I ran into his baseball cap.”
Junior Madison Pierson is in her first season working at Haunted World, and she is also looking forward to practicing her acting skills. Saying “I love Halloween” and generally enjoying the holiday is great motivation for this job as it has odd hours. She was also drawn to the costume-making aspect and looks forward to her costumes this year. Her craziest story? “When we were applying for the job and you had to yell where you wanted to be” he would pick the loudest of the bunch for the job.
The Haunted World will remain open until Halloween (Thursday, Oct. 31). Check it out, and see if you run into a fellow VHS student!
