Mrs. Hill, one of our new teachers, is teaching ninth and eleventh grade English at Vallivue High School. This is her ninth year teaching; at her old school, Ontario High, she taught yearbook and eleventh grade English for eight years.
Hill noted some differences between VHS and her previous school. One of the biggest differences is the fact that there are shorter class periods here because Ontario only goes to school four days a week. She said it is a big shift in planning to go from 50 to 70 minute class periods, and she has had to figure out how to put everything together with a 20 minute “loss” of time.
Hill states that she wants to “Focus on learning the new curriculum and putting all of my energy into my language art classes.” The main reason that Hill wanted to work at Vallivue High School is because she wanted to work closer to home to help the students and the community in general. She also expresses how much she has loved teaching here so far, and she is very grateful to teach at a school with an entire functioning library and an outstanding librarian, Ms. Wilkerson. Outside of school, Hill enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, walking her dog, and spending time with her family.
