Vallivue High School excitedly welcomes Mr. Collins, who has a very unique story leading up to where he is now. Collins teaches three periods of US History and three periods of government.
Collins grew up right here in Caldwell, Idaho before his family moved to Boise where he graduated from Capital High School in 1987. Then he majored at Pacific Lutheran University to become a stock broker. However, the military called his name with amazing opportunities, and he ended up serving in military intelligence.
This is where he learned to speak Russian, and the military sent him to Russia in 2014 where he met his fiancee and lived for nine years. Collins describes his unique time in Russia as “luxurious volatility.” Unexpectedly, Collins ended up teaching at Anglo-American School of Moscow until it was permanently closed down on May 12, 2023. Due to political unrest, Collins moved back to Idaho and secured a job at Vallivue High School.
Despite not expecting to become a teacher, Collins is great at what he does, already earning the respect of all of his students from day one. On his days off, Collins likes to travel and do any kind of biking, whether it be mountain biking, road biking, leisurely biking, etc. The students and staff look forward to having Collins as a part of our community.
