Penny Wars Ends Next Week

Leadership is asking all students to give a little this holiday season to help our own community.

Every student at VHS has probably heard the announcements talking about “Penny Wars” at some point in time, but freshman and new students might not know what exactly it is. Penny Wars is a school fundraiser that has been going on since November 27 and will continue until December 12. It is a class competition that will raise money for students in our school who are in need during this holiday season.

It is run each year by the Leadership class, and they are asking for every student to bring a least $1.25 as that would get us to our ultimate goal of $1,500. All of the money will be used to help 20 of our own Vallivue families/students. If more money is raised, Leadership will be able to help even more people!

To participate, bring your money to the main office. There will be a bucket for each class and one for the faculty where you can deposit your pennies which count as positive points. All other forms of money, excluding pennies, will count as negative points. Get as many pennies in your class’s bucket as you can while putting other forms of money into other class’s buckets.

About the Contributor
Ella Chadwick, Staff Writer
My name is Ella Chadwick and I’m a freshman here at Vallivue High School. The first strong recollection I have of writing was when I was four years old. I wrote and illustrated a picture book and sold it to all my family and friends. At that moment, little four-year-old me, fell in love with writing. Ever since, I’ve filled notebooks and docs with endless ideas and stories. I’ve written essays about random topics, novels, and books of poetry. But most of all, I took a special interest in journalism. I thought being able to write for this class and the school would give me the opportunity to gain more experience in this type of writing while at the same time gaining more knowledge about journalism itself.
