Kinley Shanley

Kinley Shanley, Staff Writer

My name is Kinley Shanley and I’m a freshman at Vallivue High School. I was recommended the journalism class by two older members, but after being in the class I’m looking forward to exploring it. I’ve always been a writer and it’s a huge part of who I am. Writing is a form of expression for myself and others. I think it’s unique to today’s youth and is a rarity, so it’s very special to me. It’s not uncommon for me to lack inspiration, so I think journalism will kickstart that and I’m excited to see my potential. I like the more controversial stories. I think they are so important to get out but they are sheltered too often. However, I’m aware it doesn’t get too controversial in a high school newspaper. I do feel like I handle difficult stories well, especially if they affect me personally. This year I’m looking forward to learning about journalism as opposed to creative writing. I’m so passionate about writing and exploring a new side of it is very appealing.
