The film version of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” was released in 1968.

The VHS music and theater department has chosen “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” as their spring musical this year, and auditions are this week from November 13-17. The musical is loosely based on the children’s book “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car” (1964) about an inventor who finds a magical car called Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that takes them on adventures. A film version was released in 1968 starring Dick Van Dyke that continues to be a beloved story. Mr. Stevenson and Mrs. Steinbach chose this musical because it is recognizable, fun loving and family friendly it is.

If you want to be part of the production, you will have to sign up at the auditorium doors outside of Mr. Stevenson’s classroom. For the audition, you must prepare a one minute song and perform a dance number. Students must prepare the song themselves but the dance is provided by Mr. Stevenson and Mrs. Steinbach. Based on your singing and dance skills you might be picked to perform in the musical. If there is a specific role you want you must do an acting scene.

Any students with more questions about the musical should talk to Mr. Stevenson and Mrs. Steinbach.
