What’s Up in the Library?

The library at VHS is going to be a busy place this month. Check out all of the activities and see what interests you!

This fall, there are a lot of fun activities happening in the Vallivue High School Library. Mrs. Wilkerson will be hosting all of these activities at both A and B lunches. Halloween activities are done, but let’s recap what they did. Freshman Gavin Badger won the two-sentence horror story contest with this submission: “As I peered into the mirror, my reflection grinned menacingly, its eyes filled with a malevolent hunger that was not my own. I couldn’t move, trapped in my own body, as it whispered, ‘I’ve been waiting for you.'” Badger received a pumpkin pie and the two runner-ups, senior Zeke Solis and freshman Zachary Nguyen, each got a bag of candy. They finished October 31 by painting tiny pumpkins, and over 100 students participated.

As I peered into the mirror, my reflection grinned menacingly, its eyes filled with a malevolent hunger that was not my own. I couldn’t move, trapped in my own body, as it whispered, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

— Gavin Badger

Now that October is over and we are in November, there will be more for students to enjoy. November is National Novel Writing Month, and there will be a meeting in the library on November 7 for any students interested in participating in NaNoWriMo. On November 8, Mrs. Wilkerson will host LIT Lunch which is a book club. If you decide to join LIT Lunch, everyone will be sharing their favorite horror/thriller novel. And lastly, on November 15 during both lunches, everyone is encouraged to join Mrs. Wilkerson and others to create leaf suncatchers.

About the Contributor
Tomie Feist, Staff Writer
My name is Tomie Feist and I am a sophomore this year. I decided to join journalism because I thought it would be fun to see what is going on behind the scenes. Normally the student body only gets to see the finished products of VSPN and the Vallivue newspaper, but I get to do the research and interview people, so that is pretty fun. The stories I like working on the most are student features. I think it is really interesting to see the students' perspective of things happening and their opinions. I'm hoping to learn more about being a good writer this year. Not only will it be important for journalism, but it will also be important for life after high school.
